In the 2016-17 season, the region had it's best winter in recent history. Even Lake Balaton froze over. 2017 also marked the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Balatonfüredi Yacht Club. To kick-off the festive year we were commisioned to design a temporary ice installation on the lake.
The the wedge-like form was inspired by the club's Burgee (flag) but was adopted to the needs of the temporary iceskating rink in the harbour serving as a kind of bench - grandstand and playground aswell.
The installation consisted of ice blocks, each weighing approximately 25kgs. 6 tonns of ice was moved during the construction.
The ephemeral installation was realized by volenteers and club members:
architects: Attila Pataki, Zoé Molnár, Viktor Ábel
